After the threats, 18 flights of IndiGo were affected due to security alert. During this, two flights also had to be diverted. What did the Union Civil Aviation Minister say
Union Civil Aviation Minister Ram Mohan Naidu said that help is being taken from international and intelligence agencies to control this situation. A plan to amend the Civil Aviation Act is also underway. He said that strict restrictions will be imposed on people involved in such activities and they will also be banned from flight services.
Threat to blow up Delhi airport with human bomb
Meanwhile, Delhi airport also received a bomb threat, which created a stir. Delhi airport was threatened of a female passenger being a ‘human bomb’. Sahar Police Station in Mumbai has registered a case in connection with this call. Investigation revealed that the person calling was the nephew of the said woman, who made this fake call due to a family dispute. This call was made at 1.30 pm on October 25. In which it was claimed that the woman is going to Uzbekistan via Delhi to meet her lover and she has Rs 90 lakh.
The threat case turned out to be fake
After this call, passengers were checked at both Mumbai and Delhi airports. But no such woman was found in any passenger. When the police traced the woman and talked to her, they found that she is a 60-year-old elderly woman. Who had never booked this trip. This case turned out to be fake due to a family dispute. Sahar Police has registered 13 FIRs of bomb threat so far this month. In one of which a 17-year-old student from Chhattisgarh was arrested.
What did the airlines say
Airlines are following security protocols to ensure the safety of passengers. Indigo said in its statement that they are giving top priority to the safety of passengers and employees. All necessary precautions are being taken in collaboration with the concerned agencies. Vistara has also assured the passengers by following the security protocol. Akasa Air said that their emergency response team is monitoring the situation and all necessary safety protocols are being followed.
Passengers are facing inconvenience
Due to these incidents, passengers are facing inconvenience and many flights are facing delays. A passenger complained on ‘X’ that his flight from Bengaluru to Bhubaneswar was at 1 pm. Which got delayed till 9 pm due to repeated delays. Akasa Air responded that there is a delay in the network due to security alerts. But all protocols are being followed to ensure passenger safety.
