Chandigarh: A satirical online platform called the “Cockroach Janta Party (CJP)” has created a major buzz on social media after reportedly surpassing the Instagram follower count of the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP). As of Thursday, the CJP Instagram handle had crossed 11.8 million followers, while BJP’s official Instagram account stood at around 8.7 million followers.
What makes the trend more surprising is the speed of its growth. The page achieved this milestone within just four days of its launch. While BJP’s Instagram account has over 18,000 posts, the CJP page reportedly gained massive traction with only a limited number of uploads, highlighting the growing power of meme culture and viral online campaigns.
The movement was reportedly initiated by 30-year-old political communication strategist Abhijeet Dipke, who is currently studying at Boston University. The campaign gained momentum after widespread social media discussions linked to remarks allegedly comparing unemployed youth to “cockroaches” and “parasites,” triggering strong reactions online.
Soon after, hashtags and slogans related to the movement began trending across platforms. Social media users started sharing memes, satire videos, and political jokes, with phrases like “Abki Baar 10 Million Paar” becoming widely circulated online.
The sudden popularity of the page has sparked fresh debate about the influence of digital platforms in shaping public conversations. Experts believe the rise of such satirical campaigns reflects how younger audiences are increasingly engaging with political content through humor, memes, and short-form social media trends.
Although BJP continues to remain one of the world’s largest political organizations with a dominant presence in electoral politics, the rapid rise of CJP demonstrates the growing impact of internet-driven narratives and online communities.
Several opposition leaders and public figures have also reacted to the trend, adding further visibility to the viral campaign. Political analysts say social media is no longer limited to entertainment but has become a major platform for political engagement, branding, and public opinion building.
The “Cockroach Janta Party” trend continues to dominate conversations online, with users closely tracking its follower growth and viral reach across multiple platforms.
