Cyclone Michong is likely to hit the Andhra coast between Nellore and Machilipatnam, near Bapatla, before Tuesday afternoon as a severe cyclonic storm with winds of 90-100 kmph, gusting to 110 kmph. Later in the day, Union Home Minister Amit Shah contacted Tamil Nadu Chief Minister MK Stalin over phone and inquired about the cyclone and its after-effects. Apart from this, CM Stalin appointed eight ministers to visit flood-affected areas and ensure availability of essential commodities and called on people to cooperate in rescue and relief operations.
