New Delhi: The Jammu and Kashmir Police on Monday busted a terrorist module of Lashkar-e-Taiba in a joint operation with the Indian Army and managed to nab three terrorists from Haigum village in Sopore. These three Lashkar-e-Taiba terrorists were planning to kill non-local laborers and grenade attacks at many places in the Union Territory. According to an official press release, the interrogation of suspects from various locations has established the role of the terrorist organization Lashkar-e-Taiba behind the targeted killings in Jammu and Kashmir.
It is also learned that terrorist organizations are planning such heinous crimes in the general area and for this these three Lashkar terrorists were assigned the task. Acting immediately on intelligence inputs, the security forces blocked the movement of the trio from the general area of Sopore to Srinagar on May 2. Joint Mobile Vehicle Check Post (MVCP) of 29 Rashtriya Rifles (RR) and Jammu and Kashmir Police were deployed along the identified routes and by-ways to nab these terrorists.
According to the official press release of Jammu and Kashmir, ‘On the night of 02 May 22, three persons were seen moving suspiciously in orchards in the general area of Haigum. The lookout party alerted the joint mobile vehicle check post of 29 Rashtriya Rifles (RR) and Jammu and Kashmir Police. The security forces challenged the trio, though they fled towards the gardens in the common area. The MVCP chased the trio and were nabbed by security forces stationed on important escape routes.
The three arrested Lashkar terrorists have been identified as Tafeem Riaz (son Riaz Ahmed Mir, resident Usman Abad Warpora), Seerat Shabaz Mir (son Mohammad Shahbaz Mir, resident of Brath Kalan Sopore) and Ramiz Ahmed Khan (son Ghulam Mohammad Khan, resident of Mirpora Brathkalan). As has happened. In their search, 3 Chinese pistols and ammunition and incriminating material were recovered. Security forces said that this successful operation will help in deterring major terror conspiracies and bust the module behind the targeted killing of non-local labourers.
