Two tremors of earthquake (earthquake )were felt in Nepal

Kathmandu: Two tremors of earthquake (earthquake ) were felt in Nepal on the intervening night of Thursday and Friday. According to the National Center for Seismology, the epicenter of the earthquake was in Dahakot of Bajura. The intensity of the first earthquake on the Richter scale was measured at 4.9 and the second at 5.9. Rajesh Sharma, an official at Nepal’s Surkhet district seismological centre, told ANI that the first quake occurred at 11:58 pm (local time), while another was recorded at 1:30 am. Local police said that there is no information about any casualty or damage in this incident.

On January 24 this year too, an earthquake of magnitude 5.8 occurred in the Gotri-Bajura area of Nepal. Due to this, tremors were felt in Uttarakhand and Delhi-NCR as well as in some other states of North India. trembled. Tremors were also felt in the southwest areas of China including Shiquanhe. Let us tell you that due to being situated in the lap of the Himalayas, Nepal comes in a dangerous seismic zone. There was a devastating earthquake of 7.8 magnitude on April 25, 2015, in which thousands of people died and there was a large-scale loss of life and property.

The biggest reason for earthquakes in the Himalayan regions is the collision between the two continental India and the Eurasian tectonic plates. The Indian plate moves northwards a few centimeters every year and makes way for the Tibetan Plateau beneath. This slip triggers the earthquake. You can understand this with the example of a rubber band. When you pull the rubber band backward by looping it between your fingers, a tension is created. Energy is stored in that tension. When you let go of the rubber band, this tension is released, the energy stored in it is converted into kinetic energy.

This geological shift of tectonic plates in the Himalayan region is due to this tension release. Its clear effect is seen on the surface. Geologist Roger Bilham is the lead author of the study done on the earthquake in Nepal in 2015. He had said during an interview in the year 2018 that the reality is that at the moment no one can say what will happen next. Information about any future earthquake cannot be given with such accuracy. It is possible that a big earthquake may appear in the coming week, or such an event may not happen even for 500 years.
