Bhagalpur. The controversy over Bihar’s Education Minister’s comment on Ramcharitmanas has not subsided that another minister Alok Mehta made scathing remarks on Brahmins and Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath on Saturday. He taunted that those who ring bells in temples are now ruling the states.
Citing the example of CM Yogi Adityanath, Bihar Revenue Minister Alok Mehta said during a public meeting in Bhagalpur district on Saturday, ‘Those who used to ring bells in temples have now become powerful. Furthermore, targeting the upper caste communities, the minister said that 10 per cent of the country’s population, which used to be agents of the British Raj, is now exerting its grip on the remaining 90 per cent, which includes the deprived and backward communities.
Accused of exploiting the backward on a class
“Ninety per cent of our population, represented by (former Deputy Chief Minister of Bihar) Jagdev Babu, was first exploited by the British Raj and then by their agents,” Mehta claimed. Talked about 10 percent people, they are not people of any particular caste but represent a class, which is exploiting the backward classes and this practice continues even today
Before independence, fathers and grandfathers were harassed during the time of the British, later their brokers did it. Which people call the share of 10 percent. He only has all the land which he got in lieu of British brokerage: Alok Mehta, Minister in Bihar Government, Goradih,
On the other hand, when the controversy escalated, Alok Mehta defended and said, ‘We have given the answer to those who took it wrongly. All the people of Bihar know that Alok Mehta maintains good relations with all classes, has respect for all classes. Who is pained to hear that there are 10 out of 100 who are brokers of the British?
Questions raised on Ramcharitmanas
Earlier, Bihar Education Minister Chandrashekhar had courted controversy with his statement that Ramcharitmanas, a poem based on Tulsidas’s epic Ramayana, is divisive and spreads hatred in the society. In UP, former minister and SP leader Swami Prasad Maurya has also created a new controversy raising questions on Ramcharitmanas.
