Gurugram: Former JDU President Sharad Yadav has passed away. Sharad Yadav’s daughter has informed about this. He was 75 years old. Shubhashini gave information in her tweet. He wrote, ‘Papa is no more’. He breathed his last at Forties Hospital in Gurugram. According to media reports, Fortis Hospital has said in a statement that Sharad Yadav was brought to the hospital in an unconscious state. There was no pulse in them. Despite all the efforts, he could not be saved. He breathed his last at 10.19 pm. Our condolences to his family.
Born on 1 July 1947 in a farmer’s family in a village in Hoshangabad, Madhya Pradesh, Sharad Yadav was a well-known leader. Be it in Parliament or in public meetings, he always put forth his point of view with impunity. He was a grassroots leader who, inspired by the thoughts of Dr. Ram Manohar Lohia, participated in many movements as an active youth leader. Along with the movements, his stature also started increasing.
Became MP for the first time in 1974
For the first time in 1974, he was elected MP from Jabalpur Lok Sabha seat of Madhya Pradesh. It was the time of JP movement and he was the first candidate selected by JP as Haldar Kisan. In 1977 also he won the election from the same Lok Sabha seat. At that time he was the President of Yuva Janata Dal. He reached the Rajya Sabha for the first time in the year 1986. Then in 1989, he won the election from Budaun Lok Sabha seat in UP and reached the Parliament for the third time. He was the Union Minister in the Ministry of Textiles and Food Processing in the VP Singh government in 1989-1990.
Took part in many movements with Lalu, Mulayam
Started his political career with Lalu Prasad Yadav, Mulayam Singh Yadav. He was also an engineer. During his engineering studies in 1971, he was elected President of the Students’ Union at Jabalpur Engineering College, Jabalpur, Madhya Pradesh. Along with student politics, he was also a leader in studies and won the Gold Medal in BE (Civil). Despite being good at studies, political ideology remained strong in his life. This was the reason that due to the desire to do something for the general public, he made politics his goal.
