Due to the strong flow in the river here in August last year, the work was going on on the basis of the temporary system, due to the bridge being not ready for a year, which collapsed in this rain.

Due to rain in Champawat, the Tanakpur to Champawat highway between Swala-Amodi was stalled from 2 pm on Friday due to stones falling from the hill. Passengers got stuck on both sides of the road due to the closure of the highway. Similarly, Gangotri-Yamunotri Highway in Uttarkashi was also opened last evening amidst stones falling from the hill, but after some time this highway had to be closed again. Yamunotri Highway has been stalled for more than 48 hours.

Here, due to heavy rains in Bageshwar district, incidents of landslides are coming to the fore in many areas. Due to the landslide on the main road leading to Kapkot, contact with Kapkot has been cut off. Efforts are being made to open the way. In Chamoli district also, torrential rains have continued since Friday night and there are reports of some roads getting affected.

Some relief in Terai, some calamity
