Imran stunned by the no-confidence motion, said- my next target will be former President Zardari

Karachi: Frustrated by the no-confidence motion brought by the opposition, Pakistan’s PM Imran Khan has threatened the former President. Imran Khan has said that he will target former President and Leader of Opposition Asif Ali Zardari over alleged corruption after winning the trust vote in Parliament. A day after opposition parties moved a no-confidence motion in Parliament, Khan visited Karachi and met leaders of the Muttahida Qaumi Movement to garner support.

Holding the government responsible for rising inflation, this no-confidence motion has been moved to remove Imran from his post. Addressing the workers of Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf party at the Governor’s Bhavan, Imran claimed that the proposal was a “political death” of the opposition. During the day-long visit to Karachi, the Prime Minister told the workers that he was telling his party members that the opposition did what he was praying for.

He said, “Till now my hands were tied, but now the handcuffs are broken, my first target will be Asif Ali Zardari who has been on my gun for a long time. Attacking Zardari, he claimed that the co-chairman of the PPP does injustice, steals and takes commission on everything. Imran said, ‘Asif Zardari, your time has come.’

Khan alleged that the former president carries “buckets of money” with him and has kept Rs 20 crore to buy PTI MPs. A no-confidence motion signed by around 100 MPs of Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) and Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP) was tabled in the National Assembly on Tuesday.

Imran is leading a coalition government and if some allies decide to switch sides, Imran could be removed from the chair. In Parliament, Imran termed the Leader of the Opposition Shahbaz Sharif as a ‘boot polisher’. He said that Shahbaz had joined hands with the PPP as he knew his time was up.

Khan told his party workers that after winning the no-confidence motion, the government would send Zardari, Shahbaz and Fazlur, three top opposition leaders, to jail, where they should have stayed longer. Imran said that many foreign countries can also have a hand in strengthening the opposition.
