The newborn was stuffed in a bag and thrown in the garbage( garbage) 

New Delhi: A shocking incident has come to light in Patel Nagar area of ​​Delhi. A domestic help has been arrested for killing her newborn child. The 26-year-old accused woman strangled the child after giving birth in the bathroom of her employer’s house and threw the body in a garbage    ( garbage)  bag.

According to the police, the case came to light on July 28 when the body of a newborn baby was found inside a plastic bag in the parking area of ​​a flat in West Patel Nagar. After receiving information about this, the investigation team reached the spot. During interrogation, the police came to know that a woman named Roshni, a resident of Rae Bareli in Uttar Pradesh, had recently given birth to a child, who had been working in this house since 2023.

Lover refused to cooperate

The police said that the woman had claimed that she had a problem of flatulence to hide her pregnancy from the family. In November 2024, while visiting her village, she had physical relations with a male friend, after which she became pregnant. When the woman came to know about her pregnancy, she told her lover, but he refused to cooperate. The woman was married in 2019, but she got divorced in 2021.

Investigation revealed that on July 26, when the landlord had gone out for a party, Roshni gave birth to the baby in the bathroom. Fearing social stigma and defamation, she strangulated the baby with a cloth. After this, she stuffed the body in a plastic bag and dumped it in the garbage dump in the building.

The body was found by a sweeper

Two days later on July 28, a sweeper found the body while collecting garbage. The landlord was informed, who called the police. The police sent Roshni for a medical examination and began questioning her. A post-mortem conducted at Ram Manohar Lohia Hospital on July 29 confirmed that the newborn was strangulated to death.

A case was registered at Patel Nagar police station on Thursday under Section 103(1) (murder) of the Indian Civil Security Code (BNSS). Before her arrest, the woman was kept at Sakhi One Stop Centre at LNJP hospital. Her statement will be recorded before a magistrate after legal advice, police said. The police will also call her boyfriend for questioning and he may also be arrested based on the investigation.
