Dhaka: The period of instability has been continuing in India’s neighboring country Bangladesh for about a year. After the overthrow of Sheikh Hasina’s government, an interim government was formed in Bangladesh under the leadership of Mohammad Yunus. However, after some time the people of Bangladesh, the political parties there and the army also got upset with Mohammad Yunus and started demanding elections as soon as possible. Ultimately Mohammad Yunus has bowed down to this demand. Mohammad Yunus has announced the time of elections in Bangladesh (Bangladesh) on Friday.
When will the election be held?
Professor Muhammad Yunus, Chief Advisor to the Interim Government of Bangladesh, announced on Friday that the much-awaited and discussed national elections in the country will be held in the first fortnight of April in the coming year 2026. Muhammad Yunus said- “I am telling the citizens of the country that the election will be held any day in the first fortnight of April 2026.”
Sheikh Hasina government was overthrown
Let us tell you that there were very violent protests in Bangladesh last year. After this, in the month of August, the Awami League government led by Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina was overthrown. Sheikh Hasina came to India after this. She has been living in exile in India since then. According to the information, this is going to be the first election in Bangladesh since this entire rebellion.
Doubt over Awami League contesting elections
Sheikh Hasina’s party will not be able to participate in the elections to be held in Bangladesh. The reason for this is that last month the interim government led by Mohammad Yunus has banned the Awami League. This action has been taken under the anti-terrorism law. This decision has been considered a big setback for Sheikh Hasina. According to information, this ban on Awami League will remain until the ongoing hearing against the party and its leaders in the International Crimes Tribunal is completed.
