New Delhi: Mock drill (mock drill) will be conducted under Operation Shield on 31st May in states and union territories bordering Pakistan. Earlier it was to be conducted on 29th May but had to be postponed due to administrative reasons. Now mock drill will be conducted on 31st May. This mock drill will be conducted in all western states and union territories bordering Pakistan including Jammu and Kashmir, Punjab, Rajasthan and Gujarat.
Why is mock drill conducted?
Mock drill is being conducted so that citizens remain alert about future attacks from enemy countries. Mock drill is a kind of exercise in which people are given information about dealing with emergency situations. People are told that if there is any kind of attack or disaster situation, then how should common people protect themselves. Let us tell you that there is a border of about 3300 km between India and Pakistan. Jammu and Kashmir, Punjab, Rajasthan and Gujarat share the border with Pakistan.
Using the powers given under Section 19 of the Civil Defense Rules, 1968, the Ministry of Home Affairs has decided to conduct the second civil defense exercise “Operation Shield” in all the districts of the states adjoining the western border of the country on 31.05.2025.
Why was the second mock drill needed?
Earlier, during the first civil defense exercise held on May 7, serious flaws were found in civil defense preparations in sensitive areas of the country. Mock drills are being organized under the second civil defense exercise to address these shortcomings. Let us tell you that after the first mock drill, the Indian Army attacked terrorist bases in Pakistan.
This exercise will involve civil defense wardens, registered volunteers and youth organizations including the National Cadet Corps (NCC), National Service Scheme (NSS), Nehru Yuva Kendra Sangathan (NYKS) and Bharat Scouts and Guides. During the mock drill, awareness will be created about how citizens should protect themselves in case of war. During this, war sirens will sound and there will also be a blackout.
What to do and what not to do during a blackout
There should be no light in any building, if there is, it should be covered with opaque things.
No bright light should be visible outside the roof of the building.
There should be no upward glow outside the building or any of its parts.
There should be no lighting for decoration or advertising outside any building.
During a blackout, all the lights installed in the car, which emit beams, should be screened.
The first way for this is to put dry brown paper on the glass, which will emit light.
The second way is to put a cardboard disc behind the glass which covers the entire area.
The reflector should be covered in such a way that no light comes out of the reflector.
If there is any kind of light in the hand, then it should also be wrapped in paper.
