New Delhi: The Supreme Court heard Rahul Gandhi’s petition on Friday in the Veer Savarkar defamation case. During this, the Supreme Court criticized Rahul Gandhi for his statement on Veer Savarkar. The court said that Rahul Gandhi  (Rahul Gandhi)     should not make irresponsible statements about freedom fighters. The Supreme Court said that Mahatma Gandhi himself had respected Savarkar. At the same time, his grandmother Indira Gandhi had written a letter to him.

Supreme Court warned Rahul Gandhi

The Supreme Court warned Rahul Gandhi that you cannot make such a statement without understanding the history of freedom fighters. The court warned that if Rahul Gandhi makes such a statement in future, we will take suo motu cognizance and hear the matter. How can you behave like this towards the freedom fighters who gave us independence. Tomorrow you will call Mahatma Gandhi a servant of the British because he wrote ‘Faithful Servant’ for Savarkar. The court has warned Congress MP Rahul Gandhi not to make such statements in future.

The division bench asked this question to Rahul Gandhi’s lawyer

The bench of Justice Dipankar Dutta and Justice Manmohan also warned Rahul Gandhi not to make any such statement in future. The bench asked senior advocate Abhishek Singhvi, appearing for the Congress leader, whether Rahul Gandhi knows that Mahatma Gandhi also used words like “your faithful servant” in his communication with the British.

The apex court also issued notice to complainant Nripendra Pandey, who accused Rahul Gandhi of “intentionally” insulting Savarkar during a rally. The court has also issued notice to the Uttar Pradesh government and sought a reply.

Court stays lower court summons

At the same time, the Supreme Court has stayed the order of the Allahabad High Court, which refused to quash the summons issued to Congress MP Rahul Gandhi by a trial court in UP in the Savarkar defamation case filed against him.
