Delhi: Security has been beefed up across the country ahead of Holi and Friday prayers of Ramzan. A Delhi Police (Police ) official said that more than 25,000 police personnel along with paramilitary forces will keep a strict vigil in the city to maintain law and order. Holi festival is on March 14 and Friday prayers of Ramzan month will also be held on the same day. Police have identified more than 300 sensitive places and are monitoring every situation with the help of drones and CCTV cameras. According to the police, meetings are being held regularly with peace committees in every district of the city.
All 15 police districts of the national capital have been instructed to increase patrolling especially in residential areas and places famous for Holi. A senior police officer posted in the Northeast district said, “Drone surveillance is being done in the Northeast district to prevent untoward incidents. Security measures are being strengthened with constant monitoring, while potential threats are being minimized through advanced drone technology.”
1500 constables will take charge of security arrangements in Rajasthan
Additional Police Commissioner (Law and Order) of Jaipur, Rameshwar Singh said that 11 additional Deputy Commissioners of Police, more than 40 Assistant Commissioners of Police (ACP), about 80 Circle Officers, about 1500 constables will take charge of security arrangements. He said that more than 300 women personnel have also been deployed to control the crowd and ensure security. Reserve forces have been deployed in sensitive police station areas. The officer said that along with this, senior police officers are constantly patrolling for monitoring. He said that additional police force has been deployed at sensitive places and every small and big incident is being closely monitored. Singh said that a large number of tourists from outside also come to Jaipur on Holi, so strong arrangements have been made for their security. He said that police officers have also been deployed in plain clothes.
CM Yogi appeals to celebrate Holi together
Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath appealed to the people to celebrate Holi in harmony by following the centuries-old traditions of Sanatan Dharma. Urging not to forcibly apply colors to unwilling people during Holi, the Chief Minister also emphasized that festivals celebrated with mutual respect bring more happiness. He said, “People should celebrate Holi in harmony by following the centuries-old traditions of Sanatan Dharma. Festivals celebrated with mutual respect bring more happiness. Do not forcibly apply colors on others, especially those who are unwell.” Adityanath said at the Bhakt Prahlad Shobha Yatra organized by the Holika Dahan Utsav Samiti in Pandeyhata that Holika Dahan should be a symbol of burning ego and negative tendencies.
Officials holding meetings with peace committees
Another senior Delhi Police official said that patrolling is being done in the entire district and meetings are being held with Market Welfare Associations (MWAs) and Resident Welfare Associations (RWAs) for the peaceful conduct of the festival. The officer said, “We are holding meetings with peace committees in every district as Holi and Ramzan’s Friday prayers are falling on the same day. Both sides are very cooperative and are in constant touch with us.”
Action will be taken against drunk drivers
Meanwhile, Delhi Traffic Police will conduct joint blockades with the local police. Special teams will be deployed at major intersections to curb drunk driving and red light crossings. The officer said that strict checking will be done on Holi day. The police also suggested people to celebrate responsibly. Police say that drunk driving not only endangers one’s own life, but also others. According to the police, apart from drunk driving, special teams will be deployed to keep an eye on reckless driving, three people riding on two-wheelers and ‘stunt biking’. The police said that it is also talking to the Imams of the mosque and seeking their cooperation.
