Grand Aarti held on Yamuna banks in Delhi(Grand Aarti ) 

Delhi: Delhi Chief Minister Rekha Gupta performed Yamuna Aarti  (Grand Aarti )  with her cabinet colleagues at Vasudev Ghat on Thursday, soon after formally taking charge as the ninth Chief Minister of the national capital at the Secretariat.

As the head of the new Delhi government, Rekha Gupta completed several rituals during the Aarti. During this, the priests also kept chanting mantras.

Let us tell you that pollution in the Yamuna river and its cleaning had become a big election issue in the Delhi Assembly elections. AAP convener and former Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal was attacked by both the BJP and the Congress over the Yamuna being highly polluted.

Chief Minister Rekha Gupta performed ‘Maa Yamuna Puja’ before the first cabinet meeting along with BJP’s Delhi unit president Virendra Sachdeva and her cabinet colleagues Parvesh Sahib Singh, Ashish Sood, Manjinder Singh Sirsa, Ravinder Indraraj Singh, Kapil Mishra and Pankaj Kumar Singh.

During the aarti, the atmosphere on the entire ghat became devotional. During this, Ram bhajans were played on the ghat and slogans of ‘Jai Shri Ram’ and ‘Yamuna Maiyya ki Jai’ were raised.

Let us tell you that after the victory, many BJP leaders had reiterated the party’s commitment to return the old glory of Yamuna. Under the cleaning campaign, weed removing machines and dredgers have already been put to work.
