Delhi: The Indian Army, which brought back Indian citizens safely amid the Russia-Ukraine war, has once again done wonders. During the conflict between Israel and Hezbollah, the Indian Army has evacuated an injured soldier safely. An Indian Army team led by a doctor rescued an injured Indian Army soldier from UNDOF Golan Heights through a C 130 air ambulance. The operation was led by Lieutenant (treatment ) Colonel Anuj Singh. He was accompanied by two trained paramedics.
The Critical Care Air Evacuation Medical Team reached the Base Hospital in Delhi Cantt with the injured soldier. Necessary medical assistance was given to the injured soldier on the way to Delhi and his treatment had started on the way itself.
Mission accomplished by multiple agencies
The Indian Air Force, Ministry of External Affairs and other agencies worked together to accomplish this mission. The rescue operation not only ensured that the injured soldier was brought to India under extremely difficult conditions, but also provided state-of-the-art critical care support en route. Havaldar Suresh R, 33, was transferred to a Level 1 hospital in CZ (Israel side) on September 20. The injured soldier was not aware of time/place/person and appeared disoriented. His medical history included a 30-day admission at Rambam Hospital, Haifa, Israel from August 22 to September 20.
How is his condition now?
The soldier suffered from head injury, unspecified trauma, subarachnoid hemorrhage, diffuse axonal injury and hemiparesis. Currently his vitals are stable and he is maintaining 98% saturation, GCS 10/15 on room air, while his body movements are brisk and spontaneous. The air ambulance carrying the patient departed from Tel Aviv at 01.20 hrs (IST) and reached Jamnagar at 10 hrs (IST). He was further airlifted to Palam New Delhi and reached Delhi at around 2 PM on 26 September 2024. He was later transferred to Army Hospital R&R, New Delhi at 3 PM via ambulance.
