Kolkata: The meeting between CM Mamata Banerjee and junior doctors is over. 42 doctors attended the meeting. Mamata Banerjee talked to everyone separately. After the meeting ended, Mamata Banerjee told the media that we have accepted 99% of the junior doctors’ demands. CBI is investigating the matter. Basically, we have accepted three demands of the doctors. Junior doctors had demanded the removal of DME, ( DME removed)  DHS, Health Secretary. After which we have decided that DME, DHS will be removed from the post.

CM Mamata said that after 4 pm tomorrow, I will make a big change in Kolkata Police. Saying this, Mamata Banerjee informed about the removal of the Deputy Commissioner of Kolkata Police, and also said that new Deputy Commissioners will be appointed tomorrow. Let us tell you, the junior doctors had demanded the removal of Kolkata Police Deputy Commissioner Vineet Goyal. The government has agreed to remove him. Mamata further said that the doctors should return to their work, no action will be taken against them.

It is known that protests were held across the country against the rape and murder of a 31-year-old junior doctor at Kolkata’s RG Kar Medical College and Hospital. But the junior doctors of RG Kar Medical College and Hospital are still protesting. Mamata Banerjee is trying to convince them. Mamata government had once again sent its invitation for the fifth and last time in a row to talk to the junior doctors.

Invitation letter sent to junior doctors by Mamata Banerjee
The Chief Secretary Manoj Pant had sent an invitation to the protesting doctors through an email on behalf of the government. In which it was said that, “This is the fifth and last time we are contacting you for a meeting between the Honorable Chief Minister and your representatives. In line with our discussion on the previous day, we are once again inviting you for an open-minded discussion with the Honorable Chief Minister at his Kalighat residence.” Apart from this, Manoj Pant also said that junior doctors should return to their work as per the Supreme Court’s September 9 directive. Earlier, Mamata Banerjee had made several attempts to talk to junior doctors but the junior doctors refused to return to work until justice was delivered in this heinous case and several top officials were removed. Earlier meetings between the state government and doctors were cancelled due to disagreements on several issues like live-streaming.

Mamata kept waiting for junior doctors for two hours

Dramatic scenes were seen in the pre-scheduled meetings between the Chief Minister and junior doctors. On September 12, the doctors went to the state secretariat Nabanna to meet Mamata Banerjee, but refused to attend the meeting, as they were told that the proceedings could not be broadcast live. Pictures of Mamata Banerjee waiting for junior doctors also went viral and she said that she waited for two hours.

Demand for live streaming of the meeting rejected by the government

Another meeting was planned after the Chief Minister suddenly arrived at the doctors’ protest site at the state health secretariat on Saturday. The junior doctors reached her residence at 6.45 pm. The meeting was cancelled that day due to the doctors’ demand for live streaming and the officials’ refusal. The doctors waited outside the chief minister’s house in the rain. They said that they should be allowed to videograph the meeting. The state government refused and said that it would record the meeting and the recording would be provided to the doctors later as the matter was sub judice.

When the doctors agreed, the government said – now it is too late

After which Mamata Banerjee came out and called the doctors inside. She said, “You can trust me, I will not mislead you. Even if you do not attend the meeting, at least have a cup of tea.” She also said that the doctors were “insulting” her. The doctors insisted that they wanted the recording. Then she said that I “cannot accept all your demands”. Later that night, the doctors decided to attend the meeting, but Minister of State Chandrima Bhattacharya and Chief Secretary Manoj Pant told them that it was too late.
