One million children may die of hunger in Afghanistan

New Delhi. The World Health Organization has said that millions of children in war-torn Afghanistan could die of hunger by the end of this year. The organization has said that during the winter season, the temperature in Afghanistan will be low and children crying from hunger may lose their lives.

The WHO said that about 3.2 million Afghan children will suffer severe malnutrition by the end of the year. Out of these, about one million children are facing the danger of death badly. The organization’s spokeswoman Margaret Harris said that this will be a big fight in the midst of the crisis spreading in the country. However, Harris does not have any figures of children who have lost their lives to hunger in Afghanistan. But he said that the wards of the hospitals are full of small children. The food crisis has deepened since the Taliban government came to power in Afghanistan. In view of this, a few days ago the Taliban government has launched a program. Under which people will be given food grains instead of work. According to the Taliban, this program is being run in almost all the major cities of the country. In Kabul city alone, there were reports of providing employment to 40 thousand people under this.

Apart from this, a United Nations report last month said that so far about 19 million Afghan people have had to face a dire food crisis. The report warned that in the months of November-December, more than half of the country’s population would face a severe food crisis. With all
