Know what is the IMD alert(alert )

New Delhi: Monsoon has entered the country and heavy rains are continuing in many states. At the same time, people of Delhi are waiting for rain. Delhiites are troubled by the humid heat. At the same time, heavy rains are continuing in Mumbai. The Meteorological Department has issued a heavy rain alert  (alert ) for many areas of Maharashtra.

The maximum temperature in Delhi on Tuesday was recorded at 36.7 degrees Celsius, 0.7 degrees below normal, while light rain occurred in some parts of the city. The IMD said that the southwest monsoon has covered the entire country six days before the normal date. The IMD said, “The southwest monsoon has advanced into the remaining parts of Rajasthan, Haryana and Punjab today. It covered the entire country on July 2, 2024 against the normal date of July 8.” The country is expected to receive above average rainfall in July
The Meteorological Department had forecast on Monday that the country is expected to receive above average rainfall in July due to the monsoon gaining strength. The monsoon reached Kerala and the Northeast ahead of schedule on May 30, but its pace in Maharashtra was slow. Due to this, severe heat waves hit northwest India and dry conditions persisted for a long time in West Bengal, Odisha, Jharkhand, Bihar, Chhattisgarh, Madhya Pradesh and Uttar Pradesh.

IMD Director General Mrityunjay Mahapatra said, “The country recorded below normal rainfall from June 11 to June 27, due to which there was below normal rainfall overall.”

Monsoon plays an important role in the economy
The monsoon plays an important role in the Indian economy. There is no other source of irrigation on about 50 percent of the country’s agricultural land. Monsoon rain is also necessary for the country’s reservoirs and aquifers. Later the water can be used to irrigate crops.

Heavy rain likely in these states

According to the IMD, active monsoon conditions are likely over northwest, east and northeast India during the next 4 to 5 days. The Meteorological Department has predicted heavy rains at isolated places over Delhi, Haryana, Chandigarh, Himachal Pradesh, Punjab, Uttar Pradesh and east Rajasthan on July 6.

Light to moderate rains and heavy to very heavy rains are likely over Northeast India, Sub-Himalayan West Bengal and Sikkim during the next five days. At the same time, scattered to widespread rain is expected over eastern India.

The IMD said in the forecast, “Light to moderate rains with thunderstorms and lightning are likely over Kerala and Mahe, Lakshadweep, coastal Karnataka, Konkan and Goa, Gujarat. Light to moderate rains are likely over Madhya Maharashtra, coastal Andhra Pradesh, interior Karnataka. Scattered to moderate rains are expected over Marathwada, Tamil Nadu, Puducherry and Karaikal, Rayalaseema and Telangana during the next five days.
