Israel-Hamas war: Israel’s war with Palestine-based extremist group Hamas has now entered its 14th day. The visit of western leaders continues in Israel. British Prime Minister Rishi Sunak pressured Israel to provide more humanitarian aid to Gaza. He also led a campaign by Western leaders to strengthen support for Israel after Hamas attacks. Sunak expressed grief over the Gaza hospital tragedy and stressed that Palestinian civilians are also victims of Hamas.
After returning from his visit to Israel, US President Joe Biden may try to involve the Americans in the defense of Israel and Ukraine in view of the growing crisis facing Washington’s allies. The US Senate will vote on a resolution reaffirming its support for Israel.
Gaza’s Hamas-run government said 1,524 were children among the 3,785 people killed since Israel began bombing Gaza in retaliation for October 7 Hamas attacks.
Israel’s Defense Minister has asked ground troops to be ready to enter the Gaza Strip. However, he did not tell when the attack would start. In a meeting with Israeli infantry soldiers on the Gaza border on Thursday, Yoav Galant appealed to the army to organize, to be ready for orders to advance.
The World Health Organization appealed for humanitarian aid to the Gaza Strip, including fuel to keep hospitals running.
As border tensions between Israel and Hezbollah increased over Israel’s war with Hamas, the US, Britain and Germany advised their citizens to leave Lebanon.
Egyptian President Abdel Fatah al-Sisi and Jordan’s King Abdullah II condemned the bombing of Palestinians in Gaza.
Prime Minister Narendra Modi spoke to Palestinian Authority President Mahmoud Abbas and expressed his condolences on the death of civilians in Gaza’s Al Ahli Hospital.
At least 13 people were killed in air strikes in Gaza’s Khan Yunis. According to the general director of Gaza hospitals and the director of al-Nasser Medical Center in southern Gaza City, entire city blocks were targeted and destroyed by the airstrikes.
IDF spokesman Rear Admiral Daniel Hagari said the military has so far told the families of 203 hostages that their loved ones are being held in the Gaza Strip.
