Ahmedabad: On the occasion of Diwali, some snow was seen melting in India-Pakistan relations. The Border Security Force and Pakistan Rangers exchanged sweets with each other on Diwali on Thursday on the India-Pakistan international border bordering Gujarat and Rajasthan.
BSF Gujarat Frontier said its jawans and Pakistan Rangers exchanged sweets at several borders.
BSF tweeted, “This kind of exchange of sweets and best wishes on festivals of national importance increases mutual harmony and brotherhood. Along with this, a peaceful atmosphere is created between the forces deployed on both sides of the border.
At the same time, Gujarat Governor Acharya Devvrat and Chief Minister Bhupendra Patel also congratulated Diwali and Gujarati New Year on Thursday.
The Governor tweeted, ‘May this festival of Diwali be filled with the twinkling of lamps and may the New Year bring happiness, prosperity and energy in everyone’s life.’
Chief Minister Bhupendra Patel said that the festival and the gaiety of the festival infuse freshness and new consciousness in the society. The Chief Minister wished that this festival becomes a symbol of positivity for the people.
In Goa too, Diwali, the festival of lights, is being celebrated with great enthusiasm. In the early hours of Thursday, people started the festival by burning an effigy of Narakasura. Chief Minister Pramod Sawant extended Diwali greetings to the public.
