New Delhi. Light rain or showers may occur in Delhi-NCR today. According to the India Meteorological Department, on July 22, the maximum temperature in Delhi can be 38 degree Celsius. On July 21, Delhi recorded a maximum temperature of 39.4°C, which was 5°C above normal. Today can be a day full of humid heat in Delhi-NCR. IMD has predicted heavy to very heavy rainfall at isolated places over Konkan, Goa, Madhya Maharashtra and Gujarat today. IMD has issued a red alert for very heavy rains (heavy rain) in the states of Maharashtra, Gujarat and Goa today.

IMD has predicted heavy to very heavy rainfall at isolated places in Himachal Pradesh and East Rajasthan today. In view of this, Orange Alert has been issued in both these states. Heavy rain is likely at isolated places over Jammu-Kashmir, Uttarakhand, Punjab, Haryana-Chandigarh-Delhi, West Rajasthan, Madhya Pradesh, Vidarbha, Chhattisgarh, Andaman and Nicobar Islands, Sub-Himalayan West Bengal, Sikkim, Odisha, Assam, Meghalaya, Nagaland, Manipur, Mizoram, Tripura, Telangana, Karnataka, Kerala and Mahe today.

While IMD has predicted lightning at many places along with thunderstorm in Andaman and Nicobar Islands, Sub-Himalayan West Bengal, Sikkim, Jharkhand, Arunachal Pradesh, Assam, Meghalaya, Nagaland, Manipur, Mizoram, Tripura, Madhya Maharashtra, Marathwada, Tamil Nadu, Puducherry and Karaikal today. On the other hand, winds with a speed of 40-45 kmph to 55 kmph are expected over Karnataka, Konkan and Goa, Maharashtra, Gujarat, Coastal Andhra Pradesh and Yanam and adjoining south Bay of Bengal and central Bay of Bengal, and stormy weather is expected. Squally wind speed reaching 45-55 kmph gusting to 65 kmph very likely over Maharashtra & North Coastal Andhra Pradesh & Yanam, Gulf of Mannar, South Tamil Nadu Coast, over Southwest & Central Arabian Sea.

According to the IMD, a low pressure area lies over South Odisha and North Andhra Pradesh and adjoining Northwest and West Central Bay of Bengal. The Monsoon Trough is active and moving south from its normal position. A cyclonic circulation lies over South Chhattisgarh & neighborhood at lower tropospheric level. A fresh low pressure area is very likely to form over northwest and adjoining west-central Bay of Bengal near south Odisha-north Andhra Pradesh coasts around July 24. Their effect on the weather can be seen in the coming times.
