Winter’s wrath continues in Delhi(Delhi)

New Delhi: The AQI system was introduced in the capital Delhi  (Delhi) in 2015. Since then, the cleanest air has been recorded in December this year. This time the average Air Quality Index (AQI) of December was 294. Officials said that this improvement can be attributed to the strong and continuous wind in the first half of the month and the record rainfall in the second half. According to the data of the Central Pollution Control Board (CPCB), December was the cleanest month so far for Delhi, in which the air quality was recorded in the ‘very poor’ category only on one day between December 1 and December 15.

AQI of December 28 was the lowest

In fact, on this Monday the AQI was 173 which was in the “moderate” category and it was much better than Sunday’s 225 (poor). This was the eighth moderate air quality day this month. The lowest AQI this month was recorded at 139 on December 28, which was the cleanest day of December. The highest AQI of 451 was recorded on December 19. The average AQI during this period was 238, which is much lower than the normal AQI of 300 for this time of the year. Delhi’s average AQI was 348 last December, 319 in 2022 and 336 in 2021. Earlier, the minimum AQI of December was 300, which was recorded in 2015.
