To make this year’s Kanwar Yatra more safe, well-organised and disaster-free, the Uttarakhand State Disaster Management Authority (USDMA) has made arrangements for high-tech monitoring. For the first time, state-of-the-art ‘Nabh Netra’ drones will be deployed in Haridwar, which will do live monitoring of crowded areas, ghats, bridges and roads.
The live feed received from the drones will be continuously monitored at the State and District Emergency Operation Centres to enable prompt response in case of any disaster or emergency situation.
Big change in disaster management system – IRS system implemented
In a review meeting held at USDMA Control Room, Additional Chief Executive Officer (Administration) Mr. Anand Swaroop informed that notification of Incident Response System (IRS) has been issued during Kanwar Yatra this year. All departments have been instructed to nominate their own single point of contact officer so that there is no hindrance in departmental coordination.
‘Sachet App’ will give weather alert information
DIG Rajkumar Negi said that weather warnings, necessary guidelines and emergency information will be made available to the travellers through the ‘Sachet App’. Hoardings and QR codes will also be put up at major entry points of the Yatra for downloading the app. Travellers have been advised to use toll-free numbers 112, 1070 and 1077 in case of emergency.
SDRF, NDRF and water police will be deployed
SDRF, NDRF and water police teams will be on alert along with 60 disaster friends at the ghats. Special security arrangements have been made at the Kangra Ghat. If necessary, additional NDRF teams can be sent immediately from Dehradun.
Many senior officers were present in the meeting
DIG Rajkumar Negi, Joint Secretary Vikram Singh Rana, Joint Chief Executive Officer Md. Obaidullah Ansari, and many other senior officers were present in this important meeting.
