New Delhi: Another petition has been filed in the Supreme Court against the Waqf Board Amendment Act. Tayyab Khan Salmani and Anjum Qadri, residents of Uttar Pradesh, have filed this petition. In the petition, a demand has been made to declare the law unconstitutional. (unconstitutional)
Earlier Amanatullah Khan had reached the Supreme Court
Earlier on Saturday, Aam Aadmi Party MLA Amanatullah Khan had filed a petition in the Supreme Court against the Waqf Bill. Earlier on Friday also two petitions were filed in the Supreme Court, the first was by Congress MP Mohammad Javed from Kishanganj, Bihar and the second was by AIMIM MP Asaduddin Owaisi. At the same time, Congress MP Jairam Ramesh had said that Congress and we will go to the Supreme Court and along with him, Tamil Nadu’s DMK also talked about filing a petition against the Waqf.
President gave approval on Saturday
President Draupadi Murmu approved the Waqf (Amendment) Bill on Saturday. With this, this bill turned into law. Let us tell you that this bill was passed in the Lok Sabha and Rajya Sabha this week. Regarding this bill, the government has claimed that it will help a lot in improving the condition of poor and Pasmanda Muslims and women of this community in the country. This bill was passed in the Lok Sabha late on Wednesday night while in the Rajya Sabha it was passed late on Thursday night. With this, Parliament approved the Waqf (Amendment) Bill, 2025 and Muslim Waqf (Repeal) Bill, 2024.
Bihar Governor had supported the bill
Bihar Governor Arif Mohammad Khan had supported the Waqf Amendment Bill passed by the Lok Sabha and Rajya Sabha and said that Waqf properties are considered to be of Allah. It should be used for the poor, needy and public welfare. Non-Muslims also have equal rights in Waqf properties.
