Delhi: The Indian Army was waiting for the Apache (Apache) combat helicopter for a long time. But this wait is now over. Actually, the first batch of Apache helicopters has reached India. These helicopters will be deployed by the Indian Army in Jodhpur. Deployment of these state-of-the-art helicopters on the western front is expected to increase the army’s attack capability in the region and speed in the battlefield. Let us tell you that the Indian Air Force already has Apache helicopters. Currently, the delivery of Apache combat helicopters has been given to the Indian Army.
Advanced technology and advanced sensor system
The Apache combat helicopter is equipped with night vision and thermal sensors which are capable of operating at night and even in bad weather. Target acquisition system and pilot night vision sensor help in identifying and targeting the enemy with accuracy. It is capable of identifying and destroying 128 dynamic targets in 60 seconds. Apart from this, the radar and communication system installed in it is also quite advanced. It is equipped with AN/APG-78 Longbow radar and Joint Tactical Information Distribution System (JTIDS), which provides advanced digital connectivity. Also communication is possible through CDL and KU frequency bands.
Firepower and weapon system
This combat helicopter can fire at a rate of 625 rounds per minute. This helicopter is equipped with AGM-114 Hellfire missile system which is capable of destroying anti-tank, laser-guided missiles, armored vehicles. Apart from this, the Hydra 70 rocket installed in it is a 70 mm unguided rocket, which is useful for destroying ground targets. Also, the Stinger missile installed in it is an air-to-air missile, which can deal with air threats. The Spike NLOS missile installed in this helicopter is a long-range missile, which has the capability of stand-off attack. Also, this helicopter is also equipped with the capability of multi-targeting. This means that this helicopter has the ability to attack 16 targets simultaneously in a minute.
Speed
If we talk about the speed of the Apache helicopter, its maximum speed is 280-365 km per hour. Also, its operational range is around 480-500 km, which can be further increased with external fuel tanks. Let us tell you that once it takes off, it can stay in the air for 3 to 3.5 hours.
Multi mission capability, multi domain operation
This helicopter is designed to dominate the complex and competitive battlefield. This combat helicopter can control drones, such as the MQ-1C Gray Eagle, which helps in finding and monitoring the target. Apart from this, it provides assistance to the Army’s Strike Corps in battle. Also, the advanced sensor and radar system installed in it are also capable of reconnaissance missions.
Design and weight of the helicopter
Let us tell you that this helicopter has been designed for two pilots, in which one pilot controls the flight and the other operates the weapons. Its weight is 6,838 kg. Also, the maximum takeoff weight is 10,433 kg. Let us tell you that this helicopter has been designed to defend against ballistic missiles and small arms attacks. It is operational even in bad weather and at night.
