Zelensky proposed to create ‘Armed Forces of Europe'(Zelensky)

Munich: Washington’s new policies under US President Donald Trump have created panic in whole Europe. This is the reason why on Saturday, two top European leaders have hardened their stance and openly criticized the policies coming out in Trump’s second term. Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky  (Zelensky)  has even urged the formation of ‘Armed Forces of Europe’. After US Vice President JD Vance met a German right-wing leader, German Chancellor Olaf Scholz condemned him for interfering in his election.

The echo of Trump’s decisions is being heard till Europe
The sharp speeches of Zelensky and Scholz on the second day of the Munich Security Conference came as the results of Trump’s decisions. The echo of Trump’s decisions is being heard in Europe as well as America. His desire to end the ongoing war between Russia and Ukraine has started bothering the leaders of Europe. Furthering his desire for a more powerful and strong Europe, Zelensky said that Ukraine’s 3-year fight against the invading Russian army has proved that there is a basis for the creation of a European army, which has been discussed for a long time among some leaders of this continent.

Zelensky is constantly warning Europe

Zelensky, who seems to be upset with Trump’s policies, said, ‘I really think the time has come that the armed forces of Europe should be formed.’ However, it cannot be said with certainty whether the leaders of Europe will like this idea of Zelensky or not. Zelensky has constantly sought more and more military and economic assistance from the European Union in the last few years and has repeatedly warned that the rest of Europe can also be vulnerable to Russia’s expansionist ambitions.

Zelensky also spoke on Trump-Putin talks
Zelensky also mentioned the phone conversation between Trump and Russian President Vladimir Putin this week. In fact, after talking to the Russian President, Trump said that he and Putin would meet soon to negotiate a peace deal on Ukraine. Trump later told Zelensky that he should also be involved in the talks to end the war, but the Ukrainian leader insisted that Europe should also be included in the talks. Zelensky said, ‘Ukraine will never accept deals made behind our back without our participation, and the same rule should apply to all of Europe.’

Sholz targeted JD Vance’s statements
Earlier, German Chancellor Olaf Scholz said that he was ‘pleased’ with the shared commitment with the US to ‘maintain Ukraine’s sovereign independence’. He said that he also agreed with Trump that the Russia-Ukraine war should end. However, Scholz also targeted Washington’s new political move. He reaffirmed his tough stance against the far-right, saying his country would not accept those who “interfere in our democracy”. He was referring to comments by US Vice President JD Vance, who slammed European leaders over their approach to democracy.
