Rudraksha has special significance in the worship of Lord Bholenath. There are many mythological stories about its origin. Rudraksha is made up of two words Rudra and Aksha. Once Lord Shankar went into deep meditation. When he opened his eyes after thousands of years of deep meditation, drops of tears fell from his eyes on the ground. Rudraksh trees were born from these tears. The fruits of this tree got the name Rudraksh because of the tears in the eyes of Lord Bhole Nath.
There is another mythological story about Rudraksh. According to this, the demon named Tripurasur had become arrogant because of his power. In such a situation, he started harassing the gods. All the troubled gods went to the shelter of Lord Brahma, Vishnu and Bholenath. Hearing their pain, Lord Bholenath went into deep meditation and when he opened his eyes, tears fell on the ground, which gave rise to Rudraksha.
It is believed that Lord Shiva resides in Rudraksha. Rudra’s grace remains by wearing Rudraksha. By wearing it, negative energies do not pass away. Rudraksh tree is found in hilly areas. This tree is found in abundance in Nepal, Burma, Thailand or Indonesia. In India too, this tree is found at a particular height in many hilly areas. Rudraksha with different faces are dedicated to different deities. However, anyone can wear the Five Mukhi Rudraksha.
One Mukhi Rudraksha is dedicated to Lord Shankar, Two Mukhi Rudraksha Ardhanarishvara, Three Mukhi Rudraksha Agni, Four Mukhi Rudraksha Brahma, Five Mukhi Kalagni, Six Mukhi Rudraksha Kartikeya, Seven Mukhi Rudraksha Kamadeva, Eight Mukhi Rudraksh Ganesha and Lord Bhairav, Nine Mukhi Rudraksha Maa Bhagwati and Shakti, 10 Mukhi Rudraksha is considered to be the form of ten-direction and Yama, 11 Mukhi Rudraksha Lord Shiva, 12 Mukhi Rudraksha Sun, 13 Mukhi Rudraksha for victory and success and Fourteen Mukhi Rudraksha is considered to be the form of Lord Shankar.
