US and the European Union have imposed tough sanctions against Russia

Beijing: In the midst of the Russo-Ukraine war, China has dealt a big blow to the Western countries. Russia’s close ally China on Monday said it opposes unilaterally imposed “illegal” sanctions. China said it would continue normal business cooperation with Russia.

The US and the European Union have imposed tough sanctions against Russia, with Western countries ousting Russian banks from the ‘Swift’ global payment system following Russia’s attack on Ukraine.

Chinese Foreign Ministry spokesman Wang Wenbin said during the press conference that China opposes the move to use sanctions to solve problems, especially sanctions that are imposed unilaterally and have no basis under international law.

“China and Russia will continue normal business coordination in view of mutual respect, equality and common interests,” Wang said.
China is constantly opposing the economic sanctions imposed on Russia. Wang said on Monday that it has long been proven that sanctions create a new problem, not just a solution to the problem. At the same time, he also accused the US of ignoring the interests of China and others while dealing with the Ukraine crisis.
