Shreyas Iyer Named Captain  ( Captain )

Vaibhav Suryavanshi: The Indian team is set to tour the UK in late June 2026. During this tour, Team India will first play a two-match T20 series against Ireland. Subsequently, the team will travel to England, where a five-match T20 series and a three-match ODI series will be played between the two sides. In preparation for this upcoming UK tour, the BCCI’s    ( Captain )  senior selection committee has announced Team India’s T20 squad. The BCCI also announced the squad for the 2026 Asian Games.

Jasprit Bumrah to Play in Asian Games
The squad for the 2026 Asian Games has also been announced, featuring some changes. The selectors have included Jasprit Bumrah in the squad for that tournament.

Vaibhav Suryavanshi Won the Orange Cap in IPL 2026
Vaibhav Suryavanshi, who scored a mountain of runs in IPL 2026, has received his maiden call-up to the senior team. He was the highest run-scorer in the 2026 IPL season. He scored 776 runs across 16 matches, securing the Orange Cap for being the highest run-scorer. In recognition of this stellar performance, he has earned a spot in Team India. Furthermore, Shreyas Iyer has now been appointed as Team India’s new T20 captain. Under his leadership, the Indian team is set to play T20 series against Ireland and England.

With this announcement by the BCCI, it has also become clear that Suryakumar Yadav has been dropped from India’s T20 squad. Shreyas Iyer has been handed the captaincy in his place. While Shreyas will serve as the new T20 captain, Tilak Varma has been entrusted with the role of vice-captain. It will be interesting to see how Team India performs on the tours of Ireland and England under the new captain.
