New Delhi. The team of Economic Offenses Wing of Delhi Police has arrested a fraudster, who duped 47 people of more than Rs 3.5 crore. The accused along with his accomplices had lured these investors of attractive returns to invest in his film production company. It duped all these people a total of three and a half crore rupees by launching fake trailers of films and organizing other events.
According to the police, the accused had told people that he was working in film production. Initially, it gave their money back to them in installments, but later the payments to investors suddenly stopped. When they contacted the directors and representatives of the company, then all the differences came to the fore. According to the complainants, they came to know that the company had launched fake trailers of films and other projects by organizing events at Siri Fort Auditorium and Jawaharlal Nehru Stadium etc. and calling singers and dancers. Due to this, people cheated money from them in the name of finance.
Rs 3.5 crore cheated from 47 people
According to the police, so far a total of 47 people have been found to have cheated of about Rs 3.5 crore. These thugs looted the hard earned money of these small investors in the guise of investing in their alleged company by launching fake trailers for films and organizing other events. After receiving the complaint, the police had registered a case of cheating against the accused. According to the police, accused Pramod Kumar Nagar son Tejveer Singh has obtained BCA degree. He used to work as a property consultant in Noida and later joined the purported company, M/s Swag Production Pvt Ltd.
According to the police, during investigation it was found that the directors of the said company had formed the film production company with the sole purpose of defrauding the people from the beginning in the name of investment and attractive returns. They used to deposit money online in the company’s bank account. Initially, the complainants used to get the money back in installments as per these schemes, but later the payment was stopped. When the complainants contacted the company, they found that the company had launched fake trailers for films and schemes to defraud investors and misappropriate funds for their personal use by organizing bogus programs.
