Chief Minister Dhami

Congress protests against Chief Minister Dhami’s visit, black flags at Chandracharya Chowk, clashes with police, several workers detained!

Haridwar, Congress workers staged a strong protest against the government on the arrival of Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami in Haridwar. Congress workers, led by former Uttarakhand Congress Committee general secretary Varun Baliyan, gathered at Chandracharya Chowk and showed black flags, terming the celebration of the completion of four years of the government as an “insult to the public”.
Questions raised on corruption, unemployment, drug addiction and crimes against women
During the protest, Varun Baliyan said that the BJP government in the state has failed on every front. He alleged that:
Corruption is at its peak in the state
Crimes against women and girls are constantly increasing
Fake voting and scams worth crores have come to light in the Municipal Corporation
The public has been cheated in matters like smart meters and medical college privatization
Drugs are being sold from house to house, youth are frustrated due to unemployment
He described the celebration of the chief minister’s four-year term at government expense as “shamelessness” and a “mockery of people’s suffering”.
During the demonstration, there was a heated argument between the police and Congress workers. Seeing the situation deteriorating, the police tried to stop the protesters by barricading. During this, a situation of mild scuffle and pushing arose, after which many workers were taken into custody and sent to Roshanabad Police Line.
Many Congress leaders and workers were present in the protest. Prominent names include:
Varun Baliyan, former general secretary
Councillors Sunil Kumar, Vivek Bhushan, Sohit Sethi, Akram Ansari, Haji Shahabuddin
Women Congress Metropolitan President Lata Joshi, Manju Rani
Youth Congress District President Cash Khurana, Tushar Kapil, Lakshya Chauhan, Nitin Teeshwar, Shubham Joshi, Samarth Agarwal
Advocates Abrar Ayubi, Mayank Tyagi, Bhupendra Vashisht, Shaukat Chichu
and dozens of other leaders, activists
This protest, which took place between the Kanwar Yatra and the Chief Minister’s official events, has increased the political temperature of Haridwar. The challenges of the administration have also increased, while the Congress is considering it as an “exposé of the anti-people policies” of the government.
