Bombay: Maharashtra (Maharashtra ) government has taken a big decision regarding three languages. Both the old decisions issued for three languages have been canceled. Apart from this, the state government has announced the establishment of a committee under the leadership of Dr. Narendra Jadhav. This committee will give its report on the three language formula. This information was given by Maharashtra CM Devendra Fadnavis through a press conference. During this, Deputy Chief Minister Eknath Shinde and Ajit Pawar were also present.
Let us tell you that amid growing protests against the introduction of Hindi language from class 1 to 5 in Maharashtra schools, the state cabinet decided to withdraw two GRs (government orders) on the implementation of the three language policy. CM Devendra Fadnavis said, “The government had issued a GR on 16 April 2025 and another on 17 April 2025. Now we cancel both these GRs. Our policy will be Marathi-centric and Marathi student-centric. We do not want to do any politics in this matter.”
Did the CM make this allegation?
During this, Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis also announced the formation of a committee headed by educationist Narendra Jadhav, which will suggest the implementation of the language policy and the way forward. CM Fadnavis alleged that Uddhav Thackeray, as Chief Minister, had accepted the recommendations of the Dr. Raghunath Mashelkar Committee to implement the three-language policy from class 1 to 12 and constituted a committee on policy implementation.
Fadnavis said, “The state cabinet has decided to withdraw the Government Resolution (GR) issued in April and June regarding the implementation of the three-language policy from class one. Also announced the formation of a committee headed by Dr. Narendra Jadhav to recommend the implementation of the three-language formula.”
Let us tell you that the Fadnavis government had issued a government order on April 16, making Hindi a compulsory third language for students of classes 1 to 5 studying in English and Marathi medium schools. Amid protests against this, the government had issued a revised government order on June 17, making Hindi an optional language.
