Haridwar, Police team of Thana GRP Haridwar set an example by tracking and recovering the lost mobile phone through CEIR portal and returned it to the rightful owner. For this commendable work, the police has received a lot of praise not only from the railway administration but also from the general public.
The case dates back to 09th January, 2025 when Mr. Vikas Chechu, resident of Dugoli, Sikar (Rajasthan) lodged a complaint at GRP Police Station Haridwar that his Realme C2 mobile phone was lost at Haridwar Railway Station.
After receiving the complaint, a special team was formed at the police station level under the direction of SP GRP which tracked the mobile with the help of CEIR (Central Equipment Identity Register) portal. After technical efforts, the said mobile was recovered from Karnataka.
Today, on 01 July 2025, the phone was handed over respectfully to the passenger Vikas Chechu. On getting the phone back, the passenger expressed his gratitude to GRP Haridwar and appreciated their promptness and sensitivity.

Railway passengers and local people expressed happiness over the alertness, technical efficiency and public service spirit of these two policemen.
CEIR Portal is a facility operated by the Government of India through which lost or stolen mobile phones can be tracked and blocked/unblocked through the IMEI number.
The successful use of this portal by Haridwar GRP shows that the police is now engaged in public service in a more effective manner with the help of technology.
