New Delhi. In Manipur,(Manipur)  after a mob took two sisters from police custody, paraded them naked and then gang-raped them, the matter is gaining momentum. Interacted with the Governor of Manipur, Anusuiya Uikey. He called this incident shameful. The governor said that ever since he came to know about this incident, he is very sad. He said, ‘The people here also live with goodwill. Can’t believe that this incident can happen here.

The governor also raised questions on the role of the police in this whole episode. He said, ‘This incident is of May 4 and a report has been lodged on the 18th. Don’t know why the police did not take cognizance of this for so many days. Today I had called the DGP, got complete information. As soon as it went viral, everyone came to know after that. One person was also arrested.

Action should be taken against the in-charge of the police station
The governor also demanded action against the in-charge of the police station. He said, “Action should be taken against whoever is in charge of the police station. Both these sisters were being taken away by the police. After snatching them from the police, these people took them away. With whom this would have happened. What must have been his mental state.
PM should take strict action
Manipur Governor Anusuiya Uike further said, ‘I condemn it. Whoever it may be, there should be absolutely no politics in it. Be it any sister or daughter of this country, this should not happen. I would like that Prime Minister, Home Minister should take strict action against the culprits. I am sorry that no action has been taken so far. Whoever is responsible, strict action should be taken. I have given this instruction to the DGP.

What is the ground reality of Manipur?
Asked the governor about the ground reality of Manipur. On this he said, ‘See even today violence is happening somewhere. More than 60 thousand children, women and men are living in about 350 camps. The Center should sit and talk to both the communities. Till the issue is not resolved by sitting, peace will not return. I am speaking openly. I am very sad, people’s houses have been burnt. People ask me till when peace will be established. I have never seen such violence in my life.
