Double attack of cold wave and fog in Delhi(Delhi ) 

Delhi: The Meteorological Department has said that dense fog prevailed in Delhi  (Delhi )  on Saturday, due to which visibility was zero for nine hours. According to the department, for the first time in this season, such dense fog prevailed for such a long time and due to dense fog, 81 trains were delayed on Saturday, while the route of 15 flights was changed. Visibility was zero for nine hours from 6 pm to 3 am in Palam. Along with this, the maximum temperature in Delhi was recorded at 20 degrees Celsius, which is just 0.7 degrees more than the normal temperature of this season.

Flight and train operations have been affected

Delhi International Airport Limited (DIAL) said in a post on social media platform ‘X’ at 6:56 am, “Flights are landing and taking off at Delhi airport, but flights that are not CAT III compliant may be affected. Passengers are requested to contact the concerned airline for updated information on flights. We regret any inconvenience.”

At the same time, train operations have also been affected due to dense fog. Northern Railway said that a total of 59 trains are running late by up to six hours from their scheduled time, while 22 trains are running late by about eight hours.

How will be the weather on Sunday?

The Meteorological Department said that Delhi is likely to be partly cloudy on Sunday and wind is likely to blow from the south-east at a speed of less than four km per hour in the morning. Mist and moderate fog are likely to prevail in most areas, while dense fog is expected in some places in the morning. There is a possibility of haze or light to moderate fog during the evening and night hours. The maximum and minimum temperatures in Delhi are likely to hover around 18 and 10 degrees Celsius respectively on Sunday.

Delhi’s air is not improving

The air quality in the national capital was recorded in the ‘very poor’ category. According to data from the Central Pollution Control Board, Delhi’s 24-hour average AQI was recorded at 378. AQI is considered ‘good’ between zero to 50, ‘satisfactory’ between 51 to 100, ‘moderate’ between 101 to 200, ‘poor’ between 201 to 300, ‘very poor’ between 301 to 400 and ‘severe’ between 401 to 500.
