Eluru. A child ( child ) in Andhra Pradesh complained to the police against his stepmother for not giving him a white shirt to wear at his friend’s birthday party, during which the story of the stepmother’s cruelty came to the fore. A police official said that The class five student (11) of a government school in Kothapeta area of Eluru city was getting ready for his friend’s birthday party at 11 am on Sunday and wanted to wear a white shirt for her. He told that he asked his stepmother Lakshmi (38) to give him the shirt which was being ironed, but she refused.
An irate student reached the Eluru town police station half-naked, wrapped in a towel, and lodged a complaint against his step-mother, the official told PTI on Monday. He told that surprised to see the complaint and courage of the child, the police asked him for information about his family members, then it came to know that he lives with his laborer father Mallikarjuna Rao (40). The officer said that after the death of the boy’s mother, his father had remarried. According to the officer, the police then called Lakshmi and ensured that she gave him the shirt. However, during interrogation, it was found that Lakshmi had misbehaved with the child earlier as well and had also burnt him with a hot rod.
According to the police, the stepmother had earlier beaten the boy so badly that he had to be admitted to the hospital and Lakshmi had burnt her feet which had to be treated. The officer said that keeping this brutality in mind, the police gave a stern warning to Lakshmi not to repeat such behavior and took a written undertaking from her that she would not harm the boy again. The police took a promise from Lakshmi in the presence of the elders of the family that she would not behave like this again.
