Gujarat is facing the brunt of heavy rains and floods these days. Thousands of people have had to be displaced from one place to another. Many people were also rescued. Meanwhile, Gujarat Chief Minister Bhupendra Patel                        ( Bhupendra Patel ) visited Devbhoomi Dwarka district to review the relief work after heavy rains. Khambhalia recorded the highest rainfall of 944 mm in the last five days. In Khambhalia, the Chief Minister got first-hand information about the impact of the rains and guided the relief work being carried out in collaboration with NDRF, SDRF, Army and Coast Guard. He visited the affected areas of Ramnagar and Kanjar checkposts and inquired about the well-being of the residents and also reviewed the arrangements made for the affected people.

During this, a review meeting was held with Chief Secretary Raj Kumar at the Dwarka Collector’s Office, where the Chief Minister received detailed information on the damage, evacuation and rescue operations in the district. The Chief Minister directed that the focus should be on clearing water, debris and soil, cleaning and disinfection, if necessary, by mobilizing resources from other districts. He emphasized the requirements of prioritizing cleanliness and hygiene in the affected areas. He also reviewed the importance of addressing health concerns by deploying medical teams, health workers, ambulances and mobile dispensaries to ensure the well-being of the residents and prevent the outbreak of disease.

Heavy rains cause severe devastation

During this, Chief Minister Bhupendra Patel was also informed about the damage caused by heavy rains in Devbhoomi Dwarka district, including loss of houses, loss of livestock and human casualties. He was told that 8 houses and huts were damaged due to heavy rains, 25 animals were killed and one person died, while two people were injured. The Chief Minister asked to start relief operations immediately after the rain stops. He also focused on cash for household items, compensation for death and other relief measures as per guidelines. Let us tell you that 272 electricity poles have been damaged in Devbhoomi Dwarka, due to which 109 villages have been affected.
