Employees’ housing on land free from mafia


Lucknow: The Uttar Pradesh government is going to give the gift of cheap accommodation to the employees. The Yogi government is preparing to build housing for the employees on the land that was freed from the possession of all the mafia like Mukhtar, Ateeq and Badan Singh Baddo. Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath has directed the Housing Department to prepare a proposal for the scheme.

Preparations have also been intensified to build shelters for the poor on the illegal havelis demolished by the mafia. In a high-level meeting with the officials on Friday, the CM reviewed the progress of the schemes. He has given instructions to prepare the houses of the poor on the land vacated from the mafia in the state. The Chief Minister said that housing is a basic necessity. Every family should get housing.

The government will build houses for the poor on the land freed from the possession of the mafia. For Group ‘C’ and ‘D’ employees also, the government will build affordable houses on the freed up land. There are also plans to build affordable housing for journalists and lawyers on the freed land. The CM has directed the Housing Department to prepare and send a proposal soon.

For the first time in the state, while taking historic action against the land mafia, the state government has vacated more than one and a half lakh acres of land worth billions of rupees, both government and private. After assuming the command of the state in the year 2017, Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath had given instructions to take strict action against the land mafia. After which action was started by constituting a four-tier Anti Land Mafia Task Force in the state. According to the revenue department data, till August 15, about 62423.89 hectares i.e. more than 1,54,249 acres of land has been freed. The Revenue Department has sent 187 land mafia to jail, marking 2464 encroachers and 4407 FIRs have been lodged.
