Dumka- Jharkhand Police, surrounded by the murder of Ankita in Dumka of Jharkhand, is now seen coming into action. Dumka Police has arrested Ankita’s second culprit Naeem alias Chhotu Khan. Confirming this, Dumka SP Amber Lakra said that after arresting the accused, the accused was produced in Dumka court and has now been sent to jail. Police has already arrested the main accused Shahrukh.
On 23 August, in unrequited love, a young man named Shahrukh carried out this dreadful incident. He had set her body on fire by sprinkling petrol from the window. Ankita, who suffered 95 percent burns, had also named Chhotu in the statement given to the magistrate. He had told that Shahrukh and Chotu sprinkled petrol on him and set him on fire. Ankita died on Saturday night while undergoing treatment at RIMS.
There is tension in Dumka after Ankita’s death. Bajrang Dal, VHP and BJP Mahila Morcha closed Dumka on Sunday and Monday to protest the death. Protests are also taking place in other parts of the state. The agitated people demand that the murderer should be hanged after conducting a hearing in the fast track court. In view of the anger of the people and the protests taking place everywhere, the Sadar SDO has imposed prohibitory orders under section 144 in Dumka.
Meanwhile, Chief Minister Hemant Soren has expressed grief over this incident and said that it is heart breaking. He said that such people should be given the strictest punishment. With the announcement of giving assistance of Rs 10 lakh to Ankita’s family members, the Chief Minister directed a fast track investigation into the heinous incident. The CM said that he has also asked the Director General of Police to give an early report on the progress of investigation from the ADG rank officer in the said case.
