Shubman Gill named Player of the Series in ODIs against Zimbabwe

Delhi. The Indian team won the 3-match ODI series against Zimbabwe by 3-0. India beat Zimbabwe by 13 runs in the third ODI of the series in Harare on Monday. Young batsman Shubman Gill performed brilliantly and scored the first century of his international career. He was also adjudged Man of the Match and Player of the Series. Gill dedicated these awards to his father.

In this match played at Harare Sports Club, the Indian team scored 289 runs for 8 wickets while batting first, thanks to the century of Shubman Gill (130). After this, the Zimbabwe team was all out for 276 runs in 49.3 overs despite the century of Sikandar Raza (115). Shubman Gill scored 130 runs in 97 balls with the help of 15 fours and 1 six. Gill also added 140 runs for the third wicket with Ishan Kishan (50). Gill scored 245 runs in the 3-match series.

He said after the match, ‘I was just trying to reduce my dot-ball percentage. I tried to hit the ball at the right time. Sikandar Raza, Brad Evans were bowling well and it was important to target the bowlers. Scoring a century is always special. I crossed ninety three times but wanted to score a century.
Gill, who became the Player of the Series, said, ‘It is a big group of players and I have been playing with them for some time now. I dedicate this award to my father as he has been my primary coach. When I got out after scoring 33 runs in the last match, I learned a little from him. It is for him.’ Shubman’s father Lakhwinder Singh used to coach him in the beginning.
