Aldos Paul makes it to the triple jump final of the World Athletics Championships

Eugene (USA): Aldos Paul has become the first Indian athlete to make it to the triple jump final of the 2022 World Athletics Championships. He jumped 16.68 meters. Aldos Paul finished sixth in the Group A qualification and 12th overall. The final will take place on Sunday at 6.50 am.

Aldos Paul had some delay in reaching the US due to visa issues. However, he did not let it reflect in his performance. He came close to his season’s best performance (16.99m) and made it to the final. He had the best performance of the season in the Federation Cup in April.

 

India’s Praveen Chitrawal and Abdullah Abubakar failed to make it to the final with their efforts of 16.49m and 16.45m respectively. Chitrawal finished eighth in Group A and 17th overall, while Abubakar finished 10th and 19th overall in Group B. Only the top 12 athletes who crossed 17.05 meters or got a place in the final.

Olympic champions Neeraj Chopra and Rohit Yadav have also managed to make it to the finals. Neeraj Chopra threw 88.39 meters in his first attempt of the javelin throw. It was the third best throw of his career. Thus he became the first Indian in the history of the tournament to make it to the final of the Javelin Throw. Rohit Yadav of India threw a throw of 80.42 meters in Group B. Due to his performance, he also managed to make it to the finals. The final i.e. the match for the medal will be held on Sunday morning at 7.05 am.
