New Delhi: A woman in Malaysia is wandering from door to door to convert her religion. But, even the court could not help this woman in this. The court has refused to allow the woman to leave Islam. The case pertains to Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia, where a woman born in a Muslim family had filed a petition in the court challenging the Sharia Court’s decision that had banned her from attempting to leave Islam. The woman says that even though she was born in a Muslim family, she has not accepted Islam till date.
In fact, the woman had earlier filed a petition in the Sharia courts. The woman had said in her appeal that she should not be considered a Muslim by birth as she has never practiced Islam. The woman told the court that she believes in Confucianism and Buddhism, so she should not be considered a Muslim.
Court refuses to do judicial review
Sharia courts had categorically refused to accept the woman’s arguments and said that she had to live in the religion of Islam and she could not leave it. After this, the woman filed a petition in the Kuala Lumpur High Court against the decision of the Sharia courts. But now the woman has also got a big blow from the High Court. The court has refused to conduct judicial review in this matter.
Fine of 2 thousand Malaysian Ringint
The woman’s lawyer Fahri Azzat has also confirmed that her client’s plea has been rejected by an email. Not only this, the court has also imposed a fine of 2 thousand Malaysian Ringint (about 36 thousand rupees) on the woman. Fahri said that his client has filed a petition against the High Court’s decision.
