Washington: Amidst the Ukraine and Russia crisis, America has taken tough measures against Russia. US President Joe Biden said in his White House address on Tuesday that this was the beginning of the Russian invasion of Ukraine. He said that we are taking steps after assessing the situation. President Biden said, “All our efforts to help Ukraine are defensive measures, we have no intention of war with Russia.” A heavy price will have to be paid.
Biden said forces and equipment would be sent to the Baltic countries of Estonia, Latvia and Lithuania. Biden accused Russia of violating international rules. He has stationed the army on the border of Ukraine. We will defend every inch of NATO land.
Meanwhile, announcing sanctions on two Russian financial institutions, President Biden said Russia would no longer be able to trade with Western countries. We have a number of steps that have to be taken. He said that we will continue to try to resolve the ongoing dispute between the two countries.
Referring to the deployment of Russian troops in eastern Ukraine, the White House has now termed this move of Russia as an ‘aggression’. The US has been hesitant to use the term at the start of the Ukraine crisis. US Deputy National Security Adviser John Finer said, “We believe this is the beginning of an attack.”
Hungarian Defense Minister Tibor Benko said the army would deploy troops near the Ukrainian border to prepare for possible humanitarian and border security operations. Prime Minister Viktor Orban ordered the army to be deployed along the country’s eastern border to prevent armed groups from entering Hungarian territory.
Syrian Foreign Minister Faisal Mikdad has praised Russia’s recognition of the independence of rebel-held areas in eastern Ukraine, calling it “a step towards protecting world peace”. We have been cooperating in these areas for a long time, he said during his visit to Russia. We are confident that these current conditions will help enhance this cooperation.
Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan said Russia’s decision to recognize two separatist regions in eastern Ukraine cannot be accepted. He called for respect for international law.
