Shameful incident, lit alive after sprinkling petrol on the woman as a witch

Nawada: A shameful incident was carried out in Nawada on Thursday evening. A woman was burnt alive after sprinkling petrol on the allegation of a witch. The incident happened at around 4 pm in Gohiadih, located in Chatkari village of Sawayatand Panchayat of Rajauli police station area. The deceased (35) was a bhakti who used to sweep the village.

According to the information, some people enraged by the death of a youth of the village, forcibly took the woman out after entering her house and sprinkling petrol and setting it on fire. The woman jumped into the pond located some distance from the house to save her life, but a crowd of people threw the woman with bricks and stones. Due to this the woman died on the spot. Rajauli police station in-charge Darbari Chaudhary has confirmed the incident. The SHO said that the dead body was lying in the village.

It is being told that two days ago in the village a young man slept in the night and remained asleep. Regarding her death, the family suspected that the woman had done some witchcraft. On this matter, the people of the village got angry and made the woman execute the incident in front of her family members. According to the villagers, the woman used to make a living by choosing wood etc. in the forest. According to the police, action will be taken as per the FIR.
