Bengaluru, July 9: A 12-year-old student of a residential school near Yelahanka in Bengaluru died under suspicious circumstances, prompting police to register a murder case against the school’s Physical Education (PT) teacher following allegations made by the victim’s family.
The incident reportedly took place at a residential school in Kadayarappanahalli village under the Bagalur police limits.
Parents Allege Assault by PT Teacher
According to the complaint filed by the boy’s father, the PT teacher allegedly assaulted his son, resulting in his death. Based on the complaint, police have registered a case under Section 101 (Murder) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS) against the accused teacher.
The family said they received a phone call from the school early in the morning informing them that the child had fallen ill and had been shifted to a nearby hospital. However, when they reached the hospital, they found that the boy had already died.
School Claims Student Collapsed During Morning Run
The school management has denied the allegations and stated that the student collapsed while participating in a morning jogging session. According to the school, the child had a history of health-related issues, and the exact cause of death can only be determined after the post-mortem examination.
Police Awaiting Post-Mortem Report
Police have launched an investigation into the incident. Officials said the PT teacher has been served a notice to appear for questioning, while investigators are collecting CCTV footage, recording witness statements, and examining other evidence.
Authorities added that the post-mortem findings and forensic evidence will play a crucial role in determining the exact cause of death and the subsequent course of legal action.
