Sanju Samson’s batting prowess(Sanju ) 

Mumbai: The Indian team, captained by Suryakumar Yadav, has entered the final of the T20 World Cup 2026. The second semi-final of the tournament was played at the Wankhede Stadium in Mumbai, where the Indian team faced England. After losing the toss, Team India batted first and scored 253 runs for the loss of 7 wickets in 20 overs, with Sanju (Sanju )  Samson’s brilliant innings of 89 runs playing a key role. Chasing the target, England could only manage 246 runs in 20 overs and lost the match by 7 runs. Team India will now face New Zealand in the title match on March 8 at the Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad.

England lost three wickets in the first six overs, Bethell held one end. England’s team, chasing the target in this semi-final match, got off to a disastrous start. England suffered their first blow on the first ball of the second over, losing Phil Salt for just 5 off Hardik Pandya. England captain Harry Brook, who came out to bat next, was expected to deliver a big innings, but he fell to Jasprit Bumrah for just 7 runs. Thus, England lost two crucial wickets on the first ball of the fifth over, reaching the score of 38. Jacob Bethell provided support for Jos Buttler, but Buttler was bowled by Varun Chakravarthy in the sixth over of the innings after scoring 25 runs off 17 balls. At the end of the first six overs, England’s score was 68 for 3.

With the end of the powerplay, Jacob Bethell adopted a more aggressive approach, consistently hitting big shots from one end. During this period, England lost their fourth wicket at 95 when Toss Banton, who was dismissed for 17 off 5 balls, departed. Will Jacks, who then came on to bat, provided excellent support to Jacob Bethell, forging a 77-run partnership for the fifth wicket in just 39 balls, turning the match into a thrilling one. A brilliant catch by Axar Patel played a crucial role in dismissing Will Jacks. England lost their fifth wicket on the last ball of the 14th over at the score of 172. Jacks, who had scored 35 off 20 balls, was dismissed by Arshdeep Singh.

Jacob Bethell, along with Sam Curran, kept the run-scoring momentum going after Will Jacks’ dismissal. However, Jasprit Bumrah, who bowled two overs, was brilliant in this period, preventing both England batsmen from making big shots. Sam Curran was dismissed for 18. Jacob Bethell, who had scored 105 runs off 48 balls, was run out while attempting a two-run shot off the first ball of the final over, when England needed 30 runs to win in six balls. England then managed to score only 246 runs for 7 wickets in 20 overs, with Team India winning the match by 7 runs. Jasprit Bumrah, bowling for the Indian team, took one wicket for just 33 runs in his four overs. While Hardik Pandya managed to take two wickets in this match, Varun Chakravarthy, Arshdeep Singh, and Axar Patel took one wicket each.

Speaking about the Indian team’s batting performance in this semi-final match against England, Sanju Samson’s brilliance was evident, helping Team India reach a score of 253 runs in 20 overs. Sanju Samson continued his excellent form and played a brilliant inning of 89 runs in this match. Shivam Dube also scored 43 runs, while Ishan Kishan scored 39 and Hardik Pandya scored 27 runs.
