Nagpur: Forgetting the ODI series defeat, Team India has made a fresh start with a victory in Nagpur.  (Nagpur)   The Indian cricket team comprehensively defeated New Zealand in the first T20I match played in Nagpur. India defeated New Zealand by 48 runs. The hero of Team India’s victory was opening batsman Abhishek Sharma, who was awarded the Player of the Match award. He played a sensational innings of 84 runs off 35 balls. Thanks to his brilliant innings, Team India managed to post a huge score of 238 runs for 7 wickets against New Zealand. In reply, the New Zealand team could only manage 190 runs for the loss of 7 wickets.

A big record created in Nagpur
In this match, both teams scored a total of 428 runs. With this, a new record was created. 428 runs is the highest total score ever in T20I matches between New Zealand and India. Earlier, this record was 420 runs, which was set on February 10, 2019, in Hamilton.

Earlier, after losing the toss and batting first, Team India’s opening batsman Abhishek Sharma wreaked havoc on the New Zealand bowling attack. During his explosive half-century innings, he entertained the spectators by hitting eight towering sixes and five attractive fours. However, he did not get much support from Sanju Samson. Sanju was dismissed in the second over, scoring 10 runs. Ishan Kishan, who was making a comeback after a long time, also failed with the bat. Kishan was out in the third over after scoring only 8 runs.

A brilliant partnership between Abhishek and Surya
After losing two big wickets within 3 overs, Abhishek, along with captain Suryakumar Yadav, forged a crucial partnership for the third wicket. The two batsmen put on a quick 99-run partnership off 47 balls, putting India in a strong position. However, captain Suryakumar Yadav didn’t seem to be in his best form in this match and was dismissed after scoring just 32 runs. In the final overs of the innings, Rinku Singh took charge of the scoring and accelerated the team’s total. Rinku made the most of the opportunity, scoring an unbeaten 44 runs off just 20 balls. His explosive innings included four fours and three magnificent sixes, enabling the Indian team to post a total of 238 runs, which is India’s highest T20I score against New Zealand to date.
