The schedule for the 2026 T20 World Cup has been announced.   ( announced )    The 2026 T20 World Cup, co-hosted by India and Sri Lanka, will begin on February 7th next year. The final will be played on March 8th. India are the defending champions, having defeated South Africa in the final of the 2024 T20 World Cup played in Barbados.

The group stage of the 2026 T20I World Cup will run from February 7th to February 20th. The tournament will begin with a match between Pakistan and the Netherlands at the SSC, Colombo. The group stage will conclude with a match between Australia and Oman in Kandy. The Super 8 stage will run from February 21 to March 1. This will be followed by two semi-finals, which will be played on March 4 and 5, respectively. The final will be played on March 8 at either the R. Premadasa Stadium in Ahmedabad or Colombo.

IND vs. PAK Match on Sunday
India and Pakistan have been drawn in the same group. The match will be played on February 15 at the R. Premadasa Stadium in Colombo. After three high-voltage matches in the Asia Cup 2025, the two teams will face each other for the first time. Fans of both teams will be eagerly awaiting this match. The Indian team will begin its campaign against the USA in Mumbai on February 7. India will then face Namibia in Delhi on February 12. After facing Pakistan on February 15, Team India will play its last group stage match against the Netherlands in Ahmedabad on February 18.

It is worth noting that India and Sri Lanka will jointly host the T20 World Cup 2026. As per the agreement between the BCCI and the PCB, Pakistan will play all its matches in Sri Lanka. If Pakistan reaches the final, the final match will also be played on Sri Lankan soil. As per the agreement between the ICC, BCCI, and PCB, all matches between India and Pakistan will be played at neutral venues until 2027.

Which cities will the matches be played in?
All matches will be played at a total of eight venues. Five cities in India and three stadiums in Sri Lanka have been selected as venues for the tournament. These include Mumbai, Delhi, Chennai, Ahmedabad, and Kolkata. In Sri Lanka, matches will be held at two stadiums in Colombo (R. Premadasa Stadium and Sinhalese Sports Club) and the Pallekele International Cricket Stadium in Kandy.

What will the format be like?
The format of the tournament will remain the same as in 2024. The 20 teams have been divided into four groups of five teams each. The top two teams from each group will advance to the Super 8, where two groups will be formed. The top two teams from each Super 8 group will advance to the semi-finals. The winners of these two semi-finals will then play in the title match.
