Major tension for the Indian team  (Major ) 

Delhi: Shubman Gill missed the second Test against South Africa due to neck spasms. Rishabh Pant has taken      (Major )   over the captaincy in his place. Gill may also be ruled out of the ODI series, and KL Rahul and Rishabh Pant could be considered for the ODI captaincy. Senior batsman Rohit Sharma is also in the squad.

Shubman Gill may be rested from the ODI series
According to reliable BCCI sources, Shubman Gill’s injury is not just a neck spasm. He will need rest, and the Indian team management will not rush his return. Gill suffered neck spasms while batting in the first Test in Kolkata. He retired hurt and returned to the pavilion. He was subsequently hospitalized and did not bat in the second innings.

Shubman Gill is currently in Mumbai, undergoing further tests, including an MRI. A source said the tests are being conducted to determine whether the injury is a muscle or a tissue injury. As of now, the selectors are hopeful that he will be able to play the T20Is against South Africa. Rishabh Pant, who is also captaining in the second Test, is a strong contender for the captaincy. However, he has played only one ODI in the past year.

Jaiswal may open with Rohit Sharma
According to a PTI report, Yashasvi Jaiswal may open the innings alongside Rohit Sharma in the ODI series. Abhishek Sharma could be the reserve opener. Harshit Rana, Mohammed Siraj, and Arshdeep Singh will handle the fast bowling. Jasprit Bumrah may be rested. Hardik Pandya, who is struggling with injury, will only play T20Is until next year’s World Cup. Kuldeep Yadav may take a break due to personal reasons. In such a situation, the spin department will be reliant on Axar Patel, Varun Chakravarthy, and Washington Sundar.

The African team has announced its squad.
It is expected that the Indian team’s squad for the ODI and T20 series will be announced within a day or two. Meanwhile, South Africa has announced its squads for both the ODI and T20 series, with Temba Bavuma as the ODI captain. Aiden Markram has been named as the captain of the T20 team.
